Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By purchasing the STEER sensor, downloading the STEER mobile application, or creating an account, you (“you” or “User”) agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) with S.E. SMARTERS ENGINEERED LTD, a company incorporated in Cyprus (“STEER”, “we”, “us”). If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Service description

STEER provides (a) the STEER OBD-II hardware sensor, and (b) the STEER mobile application that reads diagnostic data from your vehicle and explains it in plain language. STEER is an informational tool. It is not a substitute for a qualified mechanic and does not provide professional automotive, engineering or safety advice.

3. Subscription terms (STEER Pro)

STEER Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription billed at $99/year, with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers. Your first payment is taken when the trial ends — cancel before then and you are not charged.

If you subscribe on steer.so, payment is processed by Stripe and the subscription renews automatically each year until you cancel. You can manage or cancel it at any time through the customer portal (the link is also in your order confirmation email). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid year, and you keep access until then.

If you subscribe inside the iOS app, billing is handled by Apple through your App Store account. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and is managed or cancelled in your Apple ID settings. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy.

4. Hardware purchase

Hardware orders are governed by these Terms together with our Shipping & Returns policy and Limited Warranty.

5. User conduct

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer or tamper with the STEER hardware or application.
• Use STEER to perform unauthorised modifications on vehicles you do not own.
• Use STEER while operating a vehicle in a way that endangers yourself or others.
• Resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission.

6. Disclaimers

STEER provides diagnostic information based on the OBD-II protocol and publicly available data sources. We do not guarantee that this information is complete, current, or appropriate for your specific vehicle or situation. If your car exhibits safety-critical symptoms (smoke, fire, fuel smell, brake or steering failure, overheating, loss of power), do not rely on STEER — pull over safely and contact professional roadside assistance.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, STEER's aggregate liability under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. STEER shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including but not limited to vehicle repair costs, loss of use, towing, or rental vehicles.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable mandatory consumer law.

8. Privacy

Our processing of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
